Ballet

Starz Unlimited offers ballet classes for students of all ages. In our pre-ballet and beginner ballet classes our primary goal is to instill a love of the magical world of dance in our students and help them capture their natural enthusiasm for movement and music, while learning the basic ballet positions. As the students grow and mature they transition into the more serious study of proper technique and also further their poise, discipline, confidence and artistic development as dancers. Dancers who wish to further their ballet experience may also attend pointe class, with instructor approval.

Pre-Ballet– Ages 3-5

Beginning Ballet – Ages 6 & older

Intermediate Ballet– Age 8 & older by invitation or audition. Previous experience required. Attendance at 2 classes per week is strongly recommended.  The second ballet class should be Wed Int/Adv Ballet Conditioning.

Advanced Ballet – Age 10 & older by invitation or audition. Previous experience required. Attendance at 2 technique classes per week is required for Pointe work.

Ballroom


Starz Unlimited offers group classes in beginning and intermediate levels of ballroom and social dance. Students will learn 2-3 different dances each year, including; the Waltz, Cha Cha, Foxtrot, Swing, Nightclub Two-Step and Tango. While it is desirable to sign up with a partner, it is not required.

Jr. Ballroom  – Ages 6-11

Teen Ballroom– – Ages 12 & older.
Teen Ballroom A students should have at least 2 years of previous experience.
Teen Ballroom B is for students with 0-1 year of experience.

Clogging


Clogging is a percussive dance. Dancers wear shoes that have double taps and beat out rhythms with their feet.  Clogging was traditionally done to bluegrass music, but is now danced to all types of music, including country, bluegrass and pop and has its roots in Irish, English, African and Cherokee dance.

Clogging Classes for Children– Age 3 (by Dec. 31) and older.

Clogging Pre-Teams- Age 6 and older. Pre-teams will give dancers the opportunity to learn All-Around Solos that they may choose to compete at any of the competitions. The pre-team will also compete one dance at two competitions in the spring to prepare them for being a team member in the future. Dancers who do not wish to compete may audit the class and still perform in the holiday showcase and spring recital.

Clogging Competition Teams – Age 8 & older. Previous experience required. Team placement determined by clogging director after attendance at summer Clog Camp. Teams compete at four competitions during the year.

Adult/Teen Clog Beg. & Inter. Adults and teens age 14 & older. For beginners and dancers with 1-3 years experience.

Jazz & Lyrical Classes


Jazz classes emphasize turns, leaps, kicks, splits, stretching and strengthening exercises, floor work, and across the floor progressions. Concurrent enrollment in ballet or lyrical recommended.

Lyrical & Contemporary dance began in the early 20th century and emphasizes a use of gravity and creative self-expression, with the dancers using emotions and moods to choreograph their own steps.

Jazz 1 – Ages 6-10 with 0-2 years experience.
Jazz 2– – Ages 8 & older with previous jazz experience
Jazz 3 – Ages 10 & older with previous jazz experience by teacher invitation or audition

Lyrical/Contemporary– Ages 10 & older. Previous or concurrent ballet or jazz experience recommended

 

 

 

Tumbling Classes


Starz Unlimited tumbling classes teach the basic fundamentals of tumbling. These include forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, roundoffs, hand bands, backbends, walkovers, extensions and more.

Beginning Tumbling Ages 3-5-Beginning tumbling for ages 3-5. Beginning tumblers will work on back and forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands and more.

Tumbling Level 1- Age 6 & older. Beginning level for all students age 6 and older. Beginning tumblers will work on back and forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands and more.

Tumbling Level 2- Age 7 & older. Class placement made by instructorStudents should demonstrate solid cartwheel, roundoffs, handstand forward rolls. Working on backbend kickover,  backhandspring with spotting and more.

Tumbling Level 3– Class placement made by instructor. Placement made by instructor. For experienced tumblers who are currently working on back-handspring series, aerials,  front and back tucks.
