Clogging Competition Team Information

If your child is interested in participating in a competition clogging team there are greater time and financial commitments than are required for other SU classes.
- Must be age 8 by Dec. 31, 2010 to be considered for a team.
- Attendance at Clog Camp (July 19-22, 2010) is required to enable the clogging director to make the best placement in classes or teams. A private lesson may be available for extenuating circumstances.
- If you were previously on a competition team, you may be placed on the same team or be moved to another team, depending on skill level and the needs of the teams. Placement on a team will be at the discretion of the clogging director.
- Commitment to attending classes (80% attendance), the rehearsal/class prior to each performance/competition, as well as attending all competitions and performances (2-3 performances per year in addition to the recital).
- Competition Fees: $12-$15 per dance, per competition. Most teams perform 2 dances at each of the four competitions.
- Costumes: Teams usually have two costumes; usually the previous year’s costume and a new costume. Fees for competition costumes usually range from $40 - $70 each.
- Solos: Dancers must compete All-Around Solos at 2 competitions.
- Shoes: All advanced & championship teams are required to have white, oxford, split-sole competition shoes. These cost approximately $70 and can be ordered at a discount through the studio. Students on beginning & intermediate teams may use non-split-sole, white oxford shoes.
