Angel Nunez

Advanced Ballet Technique Instructor

Angel Nunez was born in Cordoba, Argentina in the early 70’s & began his dance studies at the age of 5, at the studio of renowned dancer Lydia Segni, who is also his mother. At the age of 16, he graduated with honors from the National School of Arts, in Cordoba, Argentina, and was also awarded a Dance Diploma from Colon Theatre’s Advanced Arts Institute, in Argentina. He has been taught by greats such as Jorge Tomin, Irupe Pereyra, Olga Ferri, Liliana Belfiore, and Manolita Suarez Herrera.

Angel won Danzamerica’s Copper Award (1990) and Gold Award (1996), the Jose Neglia Award from the Cultural Foundation of Buenos Aires, Argentina (1993), and also received a Ballet Teaching Certificate from the National University of Cordoba (1994).  

During the 1990’s he performed with the National Company of Spain in Swan Lake, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty and La File Mal Gardee. He also soloed around the world in lead roles with the Cuban National Company in productions of Don Quixote, Chopiniana, Swan Lake and Giselle, as well as performing in many other productions.

He taught ballet at Julio Bocca Ballet Company in Argentina.  Angel has acted as a choreographer for the Ballet Argentino and also taught the Tango and Flamenco for the Ballet Argentino.  More recently, he performed with the BYU Ballet Company in Swan Lake.

Angel has lived in Utah since 1999, receiving a degree in accounting from BYU.  He also speaks Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. He is excited to share his talents with a new generation of dancers and make teaching dance his full time career.
 
Brandi Gollinger

Director of Clogging
Competition Clogging Teams Instructor

Brandi started dancing at the age of three, and found a love for clogging at the age of five. During her youth she danced with the Wild West Cloggers, Steele Family Cloggers, and the Xtreme Power Teams from the Castleview School of Dance. In 1999 she joined CLOG AMERICA, an International Folk Dance Ensemble that represents the United States in folklore festivals around the world. Her travels with CLOG AMERICA have taken her across North and South America, Europe, and Asia. She is currently acting as one of the Dance Directors/Choreographers for the group.

Brandi has won multiple individual and team Grand Champion awards. In 2002, after 10 years of consecutive high freestyle scores, she was inducted into the America on Stage All-American Hall of Fame. She currently serves as the Chairman for the All-American Program and Hall of Fame. She is also the promoter of The Utah State Clogging Championships and is the co-director of the AAU Junior Olympic Games Clogging Competition.

Brandi started teaching clogging at the age of 16. In 1994 she became a certified member of the Center Stage National Faculty. This certification opened doors that allowed her to teach at workshops and dance camps throughout the western United States. She has taught at several studios in the Salt Lake Valley including Dance Attack and Castleview School of Dance. Brandi has been the Clogging Director of Starz Unlimited since 1998. Her Competition Clogging Teams have won multiple High Score and Overall Grand Champion Awards in competitions throughout Utah. She has been named a Director of The Year by America on Stage for the past 5 years.

In 2004 Brandi earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah in Elementary Education. She is now a School Technology Specialist in the Granite School District. In order to continue her goal of being a life long learner, Brandi is working on a Masters of Education Degree in Educational Technology through Lesley University.
 
Cheryl Wilkin

Clogging Class Instructor

Cheryl began clogging when she was 9 years old. She clogged with Castleview School of Dance on competition teams for the next 10 years. While dancing at Castleview she had the opportunity to travel and perform across the United States. Her favorite places to visit as they performed were Florida, New York and Hawaii. Cheryl was a teaching assistant and also taught her own classes for four of her years at Castleview.

At age 16 Cheryl auditioned for and made the Folk Dance Ensemble, CLOG AMERICA. She had the privilege of going to Europe twice with this group and performing in 7 countries, including the Czech Republic and Italy.

In 2007, Cheryl began teaching clogging at Starz Unlimited and she is excited to be teaching again. She now has three children of her own, who are also beginning to dance. She wants to teach clogging to others so that they may also have the opportunities to travel and perform as she did.

 
Erin Drummond

Clogging Team Instructor

Erin has been dancing for 27 years and has been teaching for 18 years. Her areas of expertise include clogging, jazz, and ballet.

Growing up, Erin danced with The Castleview School of Dance, CLOG AMERICA, and various public school groups. She has performed around Europe, Korea,the United States and Mexico, and has also had the opportunity to perform in front of many 4 star generals.

Her past accomplishments include many individual and team Grand Championships as well as High School State Championships. Erin has been on again off again with 'The Clog' but it just keeps pulling her back to it time and time again. She says it just goes to prove that once you learn it, it's a skill for life!

 
Erin Patrick

Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary & Lyrical Instructor

Erin Patrick grew up in North Carolina and will always be a southern girl at heart, but she now calls Salt Lake City her home.  Erin began dancing at young age. Her areas of emphasis include modern, ballet, and jazz. As a dancer Erin has been a member of Notoriety, Inc., based in New York and Los Angeles. She has been a guest dancer with Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, Repertory Dance Theater, Raw Moves, and Wasatch Dance Collective.

As a dance educator, Erin has worked with a wide range of student populations and disciplines, including Salt Lake Community College, Skyline High School, Global Artways, Performing Dance Workshops in Los Angeles, and at studios throughout Salt Lake City.  

Erin received her B.F.A. in Modern Dance and a Masters in Education from the University of Utah, where she was a member of the Performing Dance Company and Orchesis Honors Society.  She continues to strengthen her talents by teaching, choreographing, and performing throughout the United States, as well as by running a business with her husband in downtown Salt Lake City.
 
Kelly Nelson

Clogging Class Instructor

Kelly has been dancing tap, ballet, jazz and clogging since age 3.  She has been on many performance and competition teams.  Clogging enabled her to be part of Clog America which gave her the opportunity to travel to many countries in Europe to perform.  Kelly has taught off and on with Starz Unlimited since it began. 

After teaching 1st grade for 10 years, Kelly is now staying home with her husband Gary, daughter Kate, and son Garrett.  She enjoys crafts, making Ukrainian eggs, playing, and her time teaching for Starz Unlimited.

 
Kristina Macbeth Ito

Ballet Technique and Pointe Instructor

Kristina Macbeth Ito began dancing when she was 8 years old and immediately fell in love with it. She continued her dance education and enjoyed attending various camps and competitions. She received a Bachelor of Science from the Dance Department of Brigham Young University, with an emphasis in ballet. While attending Brigham Young University she performed with the Ballet Showcase and Theatre Ballet Companies, participated in Outreach programs, and also toured through the western United States.

Kristina then went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts in Ballet from the University of Utah. She toured internationally in Canada and China with the University of Utah Character Dance Ensemble, also dancing in the Ballet Showcases and Ensembles.

Kristina has taught at local studios and loves to teach and share her love of ballet with both students and audiences. She wants to help all students reach their full potential and she believes that anyone can realize their dreams!
